Aurora3d vs xara 3d2/20/2024 ![]() I've duplicated this effect at home and it works pretty well for multiple rows. It is Auro that insinuates rear height is not so great even though their theatrical 11.1 system uses copies of both the surround and surround height speakers to cover the rear of the theater. I get a very noticeable difference between a height and top setting here. So many posits and so little reality.Ītmos can render heights (front and rear) just fine. Perhaps the Dolby Atmos sound mixer had a bad day?Īnother question of mine would be how much the extra "Voice of God" Auro overhead speaker improves the Auromatic upmix? Whether it's appropriate to alter the sound mixing of the Dolby Atmos track is one thing, but apparently the results favor the film's upmix in Auro-3D which seems to provide a more immersive experience (unfortunately it's only in German but the audible results perhaps speak for themselves). One renowned dealer went through the trouble of comparing a) the Dolby Atmos mix on the UHD Blu-ray of Blade Runner 2049 with b) the original theatrical reproduction (wow!) and c) finally with the Auro upmixer which placed sound events (rain hitting the spinner's canopy from above, spinner's emergency blast prior to crash landing etc.) where one would have expected to hear these in the Dolby Atmos versions (except for the top and height speakers the others were muted): Where I live several dealers are quite enthusiastic about Auro's capabilities with the Auromatic upmixer. A senior AVS member recommended to keep my Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 ceiling speaker layout (aiming at MLP) to also use Auro-3D, quite the opposite. ![]()
